Day 1: Getting settled in

We arrived around 1pm and spent quite a while getting our RV set up. Several fellow Park Hosts stopped by to introduce themselves. We went out to eat at a local cafe and then headed back to camp. Dennis discovered a plumbing issue at the adjacent bathhouse, so he spent a while trying to contact a Park staff person to notify. So now Dennis has visited with the Park Superintendent and joined the Asst. Superintendent to shut off the water til tomorrow when they can get it fixed.  We are still without a working hot water heater thanks to last weeks single digit temperatures. New one arrives tomorrow!

And So it Begins!

Tomorrow we start our Park Hosting adventure in site #7. We are excited, nervous and happy all rolled into one emotion. I’ll update tomorrow night, but for now, our last night in our brick and mortar home!

Texas State Park Hosting

Dennis and I start a new camping experience this week. We will be volunteering at Inks Lake State Park. We have a pretty good idea of what our duties will be and are anxious to help the staff at the Park make our guest’s experience the best Texas State Parks has to offer.  We will be updating often to document our experience and hopefully encourage others to consider park hosting too! We encourage questions in the comment section about our adventure!
